Muzaffarpur Shelter Home Horror Now Reaches Deoria In Uttar Pradesh, One Missing Girl Rescued
Rampant sexual abuse of girls living in Bihar’s shelter homes were brought to light last month due to a social audit conducted by Tata Institute Of Social Sciences, Mumbai. Not only Muzaffarpur but the audit revealed that assault and physical abuse of boys was also prevalent in these ‘safe homes’.
The horrific details of girls cutting themselves to avoid rape and being locked up inside a room for whole day raised many eyebrows and questions. Regular social audits were recommended by many to ensure that these shelter homes are functioning without any anomalies. Checks were recommended not only in Bihar but in the entire nation.
