HBK Returning to “Normal Life,” Triple H Update, Why Shane Won
As seen during yesterday’s Crown Jewel show, WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels returned to the ring for the first time in over eight years. Michaels and Triple H were able to successfully defeat Kane and The Undertaker in the main event of the program. This marked Michaels’ first match since he lost to The Undertaker and retired in 2010. Since the HBK came back for Crown Jewel, does that mean that the former world champion will be competing in more matches for WWE soon? According to Shawn himself, that does not seem likely at the moment. In a video posted on WWE’s YouTube channel after Crown Jewel came to an end, Michaels discussed coming back to the ring after spending several years away, and he promised that he will be going back into retirement following yesterday’s win. “We are going back to our regular lives. It’s a lot of fun to do, but I’m glad it’s over too.” Michaels stated.
While it was certainly interesting to see D-Generation X back in action during Crown Jewel yesterday, some fans instantly noticed that Triple H appeared to receive a shoulder injury during the match. It was later reported that “The Game” would be receiving surgery once he got back to the United States. In an update provided by PWInsider, Triple H is already in the process of getting to Birmingham, Alabama in order to have his injury medically evaluated. Triple H is waiting for an official diagnosis right now, but if it does require surgery, it is likely that he will be forced to miss out on several months of in-ring action. Be sure to stay tuned for all of the latest news and developments on the status of Triple H’s in-ring future.
Some fans who watched WWE’s Crown Jewel show yesterday were left slightly baffled when SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon won the WWE World Cup tournament during the show. McMahon was not a participant in the tournament, but he decided to fill in for The Miz after a referee declared him unable to compete during the finals of the tournament. McMahon then defeated Dolph Ziggler quickly to win the tournament. Wrestling Observer Radio has since revealed that McMahon’s win was done to build up the Survivor Series event later this month. It was also noted that McMahon heavily celebrating his win with the trophy afterwards was done with the intention of starting a heel turn for Shane.
