NXT UK Premiere Date, Chelsea Green/WWE Update, News on Owens

Ever since the first WWE United Kingdom Championship tournament took place, WWE has had plans to launch a weekly wrestling series in the UK. The official name for the show, NXT UK, was announced by the company earlier this year, and tapings for the show have already taken place, but a premiere date for the show remained unknown for the longest time. WWE was reportedly having talks with UK networks to carry the series, but it appears now that the show will simply air on the WWE Network. WWE announced earlier today that the first episode of NXT UK premieres on the network on October 17th at 3pm ET/8pm BST. The brand new weekly wrestling series will be kicking off this Wednesday night.

Twitter user Rovert reported earlier this week that independent wrestling sensation Chelsea Green had signed with WWE and started training at the Performance Center a number of weeks ago. While Green’s signing still has yet to be publicly announced by WWE or Green herself, Dave Meltzer also noted in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Green is indeed at the PC in Orlando, Florida now. He noted that WWE has been interested in signing Green for a while, especially after her match at the All In event last month. Green may or may not already be part of the NXT roster right now, but if she has joined the company, expect the official confirmation from WWE to arrive within the next few weeks or so.

Raw Superstar Kevin Owens has been competing on just about every show since he arrived to WWE, but that may be about to change very soon. As seen on Raw earlier this week, Bobby Lashley seemingly turned heel and smashed Kevin Owens’ knee. It was later reported that Owens’ knee injury is legitimate and the angle was also being done as a way to write him off of television. In an update provided by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the injury could keep the former Universal Champion out of action from anywhere between 4-8 months. The amount of time that Kevin Owens will be away for all depends on the severity of the knee injury, but that will not be known until Owens’ knee is actually looked at by doctors.
