Samoa Joe Takes Back His WWE United States Title, Attacks Injured Rey Mysterio
Rey Mysterio made good on his word and relinquished the WWE United States Championship to Samoa Joe on the June 3 edition of Monday Night Raw.
Mysterio came down to the ring with his left arm in a sling and without his trademark gimmick contacts. The former world champion appeared to be very disappointed when as he prepared to surrender his title. But not surprisingly, he was soon interrupted by Samoa Joe.
Joe came to the ring and told Rey that he wasn’t giving up the championship because he was injured, but because he knew that he never beat The Samoan Submission Machine for the title. Rey reminded Joe that he had won championships during his entire career and that he would be back.
But before Rey could leave the ring, Joe pounced. He grabbed Mysterio in the Coquina Clutch and choked him out before grabbing the U.S. Championship and making his exit.
